07 Dec A Classroom Calendar
December is coming, which means that Christmas is approaching fast. Thanks to the classroom Advent calendar, the steps towards Christmas can be really great.
Here is our suggestion.
Prepare 24 small pockets, and glue them onto a large sheet of paper. Every day – as educators or teachers – you will fill them with new challenges.
It depends on us whether the content of the tasks will be focused on language or on attitudes / behavior. You can introduce variety and diversify the tasks – one day, for example, have your students search for the meaning of a word in the dictionary, and the following day, ask them to help an older person or perform another good deed.
Tasks can be directed at the whole class or an individual selected by drawing lots. It is also possible to set a rule that the selected student is obliged to follow the instructions, and the others may or may not fulfill the challenge.
This year, the first day of Advent is on Sunday (1/12), so it’s good to have a calendar and the first task already on Friday. The nature of the instructions depends on us. You can ask about traditions, you can ask the students to find quotes in their obligatory reading materials or other books; you can also use the hints mentioned here (link) and encourage kindness towards others.
There are many suggestions, so get to work!
